Is it Work if you are Having Fun?
Is your job fun and interesting, or do you dread it? When you’re at work, what is your attitude? Are you happy to be there, doing your best to your ability, having a good work ethic, or are you sullen and grumpy, counting the minutes until quitting time?
When you interact with others and do what you can to make the environment as pleasant as possible, it can make an enormous difference in how other people behave as well. Think about it, do you want to work with someone who smiles and is generally nice to be around, or someone who complains about everything and frowns a lot?
This is not to say there won’t be bad days, or people who are just difficult to work with and will go out of their way to make you as unhappy as they are, but it’s important to always do the best you can.
Of course, some days are better than others, but if for the most part you feel satisfied with the quality of your work, and you have sincerely put in an effort, then that is what matters. If you are unhappy with your job, and everyone around you knows it, then why keep putting yourself in that situation? Try looking for a job better suited to you. Life is too short to be miserable all the time.
Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.
