The Light of a Candle
The flame of one small candle can illuminate a dark room with its gentle glow. That tiny flame has the potential to light a thousand other candles, yet by doing so, it does not lose any of its own shine. Similarly, when we let our own light shine, we have the potential to brighten the lives of countless others, rippling outward in an ever-widening circle.
“There are two ways of spreading light; to be the candle or the mirror that reflects it.”
Edith Wharton
Each day holds a new opportunity to consciously choose a good attitude and be the kind of person that looks for joy in life. Even though it may not always feel like it, it really takes no extra effort to find things to be happy about than it does to find things to complain about. It’s all about shifting perspective. When we find reasons to express our delight with smiles, laughter, and a cheerful attitude, we uplift ourselves as well as those around us.
“Gratitude is a powerful catalyst for happiness. It’s the spark that lights a fire of joy in your soul.”
Amy Collette
As we gather with family and friends to celebrate the season of love, goodwill, and returning light (in the northern hemisphere) let’s continue to spread our own light to the world.
“Nothing can dim the light that shines from within.”
Maya Angelou
