Birds of a Feather
It is said that friends are the family we choose, people whose lives have touched ours and with whom we feel a sense of belonging and connection. Have you ever considered what kind of friend you are? Are you caring, supportive, and kind? Or do you tend to think mostly about what is in it for you?
Friends are an important part of our lives. There are several types of friends, and we interact with them in numerous ways, whether it is a work friend, a fun-loving friend, or the friend we know we can call at any time for any reason. We should take the time to cultivate our friendships and choose ones that are positive and beneficial for both people. If we have the kind of friend who brings us down, or with whom we feel drained after being around them, or who gets us involved in something that is bad, then that is not the kind of friend we need and we should take steps to remove ourselves from that relationship.
False friendship, like the ivy, decays and ruins the walls it embraces; but true friendship gives new life and animation to the object it supports.
Richard Burton
A true friend is a blessing – someone we can count on in both good and bad times. When we give and receive encouragement, listen with compassion, and make it a priority to spend time together being present during life’s ups and downs, we strengthen the bond of friendship. Therefore, we should make sure our friends know that we appreciate them and do our best to be the kind of friend we would want for ourselves.
True friends aren’t the ones who make your problems disappear. They are the ones who won’t disappear when you’re facing problems.
