You Can Complain or You Can Change
We all know someone who has turned complaining into an art, and they seem to find a problem just about everywhere.
Complaining is one way of acknowledging that we are not happy with the way things are. But if all we do is complain or criticize, never bothering to call upon the creative energy that is required to bring about something new, then we are at serious risk for becoming a destructive force, not only in our own lives, but in the lives of the people who interact with us.
For many people, complaining has become an end unto itself. We all complain at one time or another, but if we spend a substantial portion of time complaining, then just think of all the wasted time and energy. Basically, complaining is the ability to see what is not working in our own life or even in the world, and by acknowledging what is not working, instead of just redundant complaining, it is important to try finding a solution and applying it to the problem.
When we find ourselves complaining, we can begin by noticing that we are ready to make changes. While we can’t change other people, we can change ourselves, and therefore, we can look for an appropriate place to channel this energy. We should ask ourselves what we would like to create in place of whatever it is that needs to change and focus our energy toward making things better. This will help shift our perspective and give us a way to be a positive influence on those around us, as well as to help create the beneficial changes we want.
If you have the time to whine and complain about something, then you have the time to do something about it.
