Laughter is Good for You
I’m sure you’ve heard the adage “laughter is the best medicine”. But, what does that mean? Is it accurate?
According to studies, it can have a positive influence on you. Here are some reasons why laughter is good for you:
- Lowers blood pressure.
- Reduces stress hormone levels.
- Works your abs and stimulates your organs. By enhancing the intake of oxygen-rich air, it stimulates your heart, lungs, and muscles, and also increases the endorphins that are released by your brain (natural painkillers).
- Boosts T-Cells, which are specialized system cells that help fight off sickness.
- Improves cardiac and general health.
- Produces a sense of well-being (combats depression).

Here are a few things I came across that I thought were funny:
- We need a 12-step group for compulsive talkers. They could call it On Anon Anon.
- It’s hard to explain puns to kleptomaniacs because they always take things literally.
- Don’t go bacon my heart. I couldn’t if I fried.
Here are some fun portmanteaus (a word created when two words, and their meanings, are combined):
- Cellfish: an individual who continues to talk on their cell phone so as to be rude or inconsiderate of other people.
- Epiphanot: an idea that seems like an amazing insight to the conceiver but is in fact pointless, mundane, stupid, or incorrect.
- Grudgemental: someone holding a grudge while being judgmental.
- Ignoranus: someone who is both stupid AND an a-hole.
- Textpectation: the anticipation felt when waiting for a response to a text.
- Unkeyboardinated: when you’re unable to type without repeatedly making mistakes.
