Release the Old, Embrace the New

It’s a couple weeks into the new year, so now is a time to check in with ourselves to see if we’re still sticking to our resolutions or if we’re starting to fall back into old habits.

“It’s never too late to become who you want to be. I hope you live a life that you’re proud of, and if you find that you’re not, I hope you have the strength to start over.”

F. Scott Fitzgerald

As we begin something new, it is important to remember that releasing the old, unnecessary, or negative stuff creates space for the new. This includes releasing everything from old patterns and habits, unused material items, toxic relationships, unhealthy thoughts or beliefs, and anything else we no longer want or need. When we clear all that out, we have made space for the new, positive, and healthier things we do want and need.

“The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new.”

Socrates

It takes a while to form new patterns, so we needn’t feel like a failure if we’ve noticed we’re starting to slack. The good news is that now that we’ve noticed it, we have the power to get back on track and focus on the aspirations we have set for ourselves. As we take it day by day, we are that much closer to achieving our goals.

“Your life does not get better by chance. It gets better by change.”

Jim Rohn
